Musical Solar Whirlygig 2020

The Musical Solar Whirlygig kit was developed together with Celine Young, teacher at Rosemont Middle School in La Crescenta, California during the Spring of 2020. The kit included solar cells to power a sound module (aka ‘music chip’) and another solar cell to move the motor and a kinetic sculpture (aka ‘whirlygig’). Since school instructions was done remotely, due to the Pandemic, the kits were boxed in USPS flat-rate mailers and sent directly home to students from Solar Schoolhouse.

We no longer package this kit in USPS mailers, but you can scrounge for another box to add these whirlygig ingredients and create your masterpiece. The instructions below were drafted by Celine and can be used to help guide you as you make a Solar Musical Whirlygig with your own box..
