Scenes from an event in Sacramento where we had 3 Solar fountain Sculpture Sets available for young visitors to create their own fountain sculptures. We used a 20 watt (12v) solar module as the input to power the fountains. These are easier to use for events where students have limited time to experiment. For the setup, used 9Liter rectangular plastic boxes as the basin for the fountain, and built an H-shaped based with the pump attached, as a starting point for students. They then got creative making the fountain part and adjusting the flow by shading the solar module. In other situations, where there is more time, students would try to create a structure that holds the fountain upright – by not showing a solution, they will try all sorts of combinations – which is great!
