Scroll down to RSVP on the Form below for the Potluck.  The ‘Buy Now’ button is to buy the Solar L’Oven materials and reserving space in the Solar Oven building workshop.

What’s a Solar Potluck? Bring a dish to cook in one of our solar ovens. We can cook just about anything in a solar oven – Slow cooked items are best, but baking works too. Here are some recipes for ideas, but really your favorite dish should work. Call with any questions. www.solarcooking.wikia.com/wiki/Recipes

We’ll put the food in the ovens between noon and 1:30pm, then start the Solar L’Oven building workshop. We’ll also have a parabolic ‘Solar Grill’ Cooker (the SolSource from One Earth Designs) to cook those high temperature items. We’ll eat ~ 530pm

Solar L’Oven Workshop – Build your own! Over 100 of these family sized ovens have been built in the past few years, with nearly 50 ovens now being used in Hopi and Lakota Communities. We refined the design based on basic solar box oven concept. It includes tempered glass, black metal absorber floor, rigid insulation, plywood walls, and a single reflector/lid. The plywood parts are pre-cut, but assembly will take 2-3 hours. Recommended 2-3 people to build. If you don’t have a teammate with you, one of the potluck folks will help out. The completed oven reaches temperatures of ~ 250-270F, hot enough to cook most meals.  The cost to build your own is $160. We have space and materials to build 6 ovens. To and reserve your oven & workshop space, go to follow this Buy Now link to paypal to pay with credit card.
All proceeds go toward supporting our Solar Schoolhouse program.

We’ll also have for sale a variety of granite-ware cooking utensils (pots, loaf pans, cookie sheets) that are dark, durable and perfect for solar cooking. Bring a few extra $ for this option.

It’s ok to just come for the Potluck. You don’t have to build an oven.

Where: Allens. Sebastopol. RSVP via the Form below to receive Location address.
